This necklace took some time to hand knot with black silk thread. 3 strands of lovely South Sea Shell Pearls in a lovely peacock black colour. Classic lengths of 18-19-20 inches. Secured with a lovely filigree clasp in 925 silver.
South Sea Shell Pearls are not cultured pearls, they are man-made to simulate the look of the real pearls. The aim of these south sea shell pearls is to look like the perfect pearl. By layering a natural mother of pearl nucleus with iridescent synthesised mother-of-pearl, the result is the creation of a product with a lovely shine that is stunning against bare skin. These South Sea Shell Pearls have an anti-perfume coating to protect them against some exposure to perfume or spray. Be that as it may, I would recommend that these be treated like cultured pearls.
